"No, no, no, no, no!" he said. "That isn't right at all! Hang it on the other side."
The young lad obeyed diligently. He was eager to please, but more eager to punch this old man in the nose. He managed to control himself.
"No, no...well, yes. That is alright."
Relieved, the boy got down from the step stool and went on into the foyer to collect the next picture. He had no interest in helping the old man hang his things on the wall, really he would have rather been outside playing or assisting his father at the brewery, but when his mother had informed him that the old man would pay him twenty dollars for just a small amount of work, his mind changed quickly. Now he was wondering if that twenty dollars was really worth it.
